Amalfi Coast best beaches – Let’s see together some of the Amalfi Coast best beaches.

  1. Positano Beach
  2. Il Duoglio Beach
  3. Marina di Praia Beach
  4. Lido di Castiglione Beach
  5. Sorrento beach

Positano Beach

Positano is of course one of the best Amalfi Coast towns so we place its main beach at the top of the Amalfi Coast best beaches. The main beach of Positano is the Spiaggia of Marina Grande. This beach is not only the main beach of Positano but also the most photographed because it is very scenic.

If we want to enjoy the beautiful sea of the Amalfi Coast, however, we must choose well where to position ourselves.

Top 5 Summer in Amalfi Coast best beaches 3

The Spiaggia Marina Grande of Positano has an area dedicated to free beaches and another area dedicated to bathing establishments. The free beach is located on the right looking at the sea, right next to the embarkation of the motor ships. This causes some problems for swimmers who would like to relax in peace on the free beach and swim.

The free beach of Positano on 18/08/21 at 4:30 pm

Especially in the middle of August, when you get to the maximum crowding of this portion of the beach, the experience can be totally negative! The portion of the beach is limited, therefore extremely crowded and not always clean. The sand is large, dark, and difficult to remove. In addition, the great comings and goings of motorboats make the air not well breathable because it is full of smog.

A completely different experience is lived a few meters away in the area dedicated to bathing establishments! The further you move away from the free beach, the more you will find peace, tranquility, pebbles instead of dark sand and it is pleasant to enjoy the sea.

It is incredible how passing from right to left on the beach of Positano you go from rags to riches in terms of comfort, but you also reach the stars in terms of costs.

In fact, it starts from a zero cost of the free beach of Positano, but with the disadvantages described above especially in high season, then moving on to the beaches such as the Lido Incanto which in August has a cost of about 50 euros for 2 sunbeds and 1 umbrella, until you reach the end of the beach and the cliff.

The end of the beach and the adjoining cliff is right where the exclusive La Scogliera Beach Resort is located. Here too, the more you push to the left with the position of the sunbeds, the more the prices rise. Here are some prices for September 2021 in the progression of the position. Of course, in August 2021 they were higher.

Going to the far left of Positano beach, in addition to finding more tranquility and less smog, we also have a fantastic view of the beach with Positano in the background: truly beautiful and unique!

Il Duoglio Beach Amalfi

The Duoglio beach is located near Amalfi. It is a very beautiful beach and is particularly appreciated for its crystal clear waters. It is suitable for those who want to relax on deck chairs, for those who simply want to relax on the shore listening to the waves of the sea that become more lively every time a boat arrives from Amalfi and it is also suitable for those who like to swim and snorkel.

Duoglio beach Amalfi how to get there?

The Duoglio beach can be reached by bus thanks to the staircase that connects the beach to the main road or by a boat service that leaves from the port of Amalfi. The boat transport service is usually paid but some beaches offer a private service included in the rental of beach umbrellas and beach chairs.

Scala Duoglio: How to reach the beach thanks to the staircase?

As we have just said above, The Duoglio beach can be reached not only by sea but also by bus, thanks to the staircase that connects the beach to the main road that runs along the Amalfi Coast.

For more details watch the following video:

Text of the video:

Hi everybody, we are sailing along the magnificent Amalfi coast, and we see two beautiful beaches. How to reach them? In this video, we want to talk specifically about the beach on our right: The Duoglio Beach.

You can get to this beach by boat from Amalfi but also by bus. If you look attentively, you can see the road that runs along the Amalfi Coast above this beach. The beach is connected to the road by a long staircase. But let’s take a closer look!

We arrive at the Duoglio beach from Positano by bus. The closest bus stop is Lone, a hamlet of Amalfi, a few steps from the staircase gate to get to the beach. As you can see, access to the staircase may be limited. In this case, the sign indicates that only those who have a reservation in one of the two bathing establishments can access the stairs.

We begin the descent along this staircase. The steps are said to be more than 400, but to tell the truth, we started counting them, but then we were distracted by the magnificent view and lost count.

As we go down, we have a different view of the beach below. A pleasant descent, as the view is breathtaking and downhill, the effort is reduced to a minimum. The fatigue is undoubtedly much greater uphill.

For this reason, if you do not want to face the climb, you can opt for the boat service that takes you to the port of Amalfi. You can opt for the paid service of the Amalfi Battellieri Group or, as in our case, the shuttle service included in the rental of sun loungers and umbrellas at the Lido Degli Artisti bathing establishment.

We have now arrived at the beach, ready for a beautiful day at the Duoglio beach. The adventure continues in the following video! Bye, see you soon!

The Duoglio Beach by boat

The Duoglio beach can also be easily reached by boat. The Amalfi Battellieri Group offers a transport service from the port of Amalfi to The Duoglio Beach and vice versa. In addition to this service, there is also the Lido Degli Artisti which transports free of charging its customers who have rented sunbeds and umbrellas for the day.

Text of the video:

Hi and welcome back! After a beautiful day at the Duoglio beach, it’s time to reach our next destination. It is 4 pm, and the shadow begins to arrive on the beach.

As we saw in another video, we arrived at this beach by bus, and then we went down the staircase that connects the road to the Duoglio beach.

For the return, we opt for the boat instead. In this way, we avoid all the uphill steps, and we have the pleasure of admiring this magnificent beach and Amalfi from the sea.

In our case, we use the Lido Degli Artisti service, but it’s also possible to take the boat of the Amalfi Battellieri Group. Let’s enjoy the beautiful view now!

Here is Amalfi! Do you want to see the rest of the navigation and Amalfi more closely? Watch the suggested video here that you also find in the description and comments!

Marina di Praia Beach

Marina di Praia beach: very characteristic as it is set between 2 fjords. The beach of Marina di Praia is not the best known but it is really very characteristic.

Watch the following video! The video is in Italian but you can enable the subtitle in your favorite language.

Text of the video:

Hello, we have just arrived in Praiano and more precisely in Marina di Praia. This beach is an extraordinary place, and during this video, we will get to know it better. You can get to Marina di Praia by bus or by car. Parking spaces are available here, even if they are limited. We are observing this magnificent beach from above, from the road where we find the bus stop. Below we see the beach set between 2 majestic rock walls.

Here we also find some hotels and restaurants. We go down to access the beach. The beach is very characteristic, and the sea is fantastic. The only negative note is that precisely because of the two side rock walls that make this beach so unique, the sun illuminates the beach only in the central hours of the day. However, we can go beyond this beach by following the path that runs along the coast to find other options to relax and swim. Let’s explore. To conclude, you cannot miss an excellent lunch on the beach.

Il Tridente

Il Tridente is an excellent restaurant because it has a great view it has open spaces, the bar is nice and every dish we tasted was amazing.

Top 3 Best restaurants in Positano Italy with a view
Top 3 Best restaurants in Positano Italy with a view

It is an elegant restaurant with a nice view, good food and it is not too expensive. The staff is very friendly but at the same time professional.

For the food, we all appreciated the appetizer offered by the restaurant: Fiori di Zucca in pastella. It was very delicious. We also appreciated the ravioli because they had perfect combinations of ingredients: pesto, tomato and mozzarella di bufala was a great combination.

The pasta linguine with the lobster was delicious. The linguine were amazing because the taste was excellent and also the portion was big. Also, the lobster had a good size in the pasta for the price.

We also appreciated the dessert Delizia al Limone because it was super creamy, sweet and just the right amount of lemon.

The atmosphere is perfect because you have an elegant restaurant, with a special view on Positano, a good service, the people in the restaurant are friendly. Furthermore, there is also the music that makes your experience at the Tridente restaurant more special.

La Sponda

Eating in this restaurant is a really nice experience especially if you’re not on a budget because this restaurant is very expensive. La Sponda is very elegant and the menus offer a different taste and not simple dishes.

Top 3 Best restaurants in Positano Italy with a view
Top 3 Best restaurants in Positano Italy with a view: La Sponda.

The atmosphere is the best among all the restaurants in Positano. There were the mandolins and 2 men normally play and sing typical Italian songs and other famous songs such as the Godfather. They also come next to your table and they make you feel very special. Furthermore, the view is amazing.

Watch the following video and Subscribe to our YouTube Channel if you aren’t already subscribed! Subscribe here!

It is not a good place for kids because the menu doesn’t contain typical food and the taste of these dishes may result in a little strange if you’re not used to eating it and you are used to eating simple food.

We could insert the Sponda to the very top of our list but it is very expensive and it is not for everybody.

La Tagliata

The Tagliata is very good, they give you huge portions and so you get a good value for your money. The quality of the food is good, they don’t give you fancy food but it’s homemade food, rustic.

The view of the Tagliata is excellent. If you go for the sunset you have an amazing view especially if you ask for a table close to the window in order to sit near the balcony because the view on the inside isn’t as good.

It’s a good place especially for families because it isn’t super fancy. You don’t need to dress up and it is also convenient because they bring you up with the shuttle and they bring you to the restaurant. In this way, you don’t need to worry about the drive because it’s not so easy to get here by car because in this area they are quite crazy drivers. ;).

The following video shows you the amazing view from this restaurant terrace at sunset time.

Terrazza Celè

Terrazza Celè is another good restaurant in Positano. It is located at the left of the beach if you have in front of you the beach and the sea. In this way, you can see Positano from a different point of view. Terrazza Celè is in fact at the opposite side of the restaurant Il Tridente.

Terrazza Celè is a very cute restaurant, with a relaxed atmosphere and quite elegant. You can get to this restaurant on foot and you don’t need any transportation if your hotel is close to the center of Positano.

The food is good, the portions in the dishes are just right, well presented and you can spend a really good evening at this restaurant without spending too much if we consider Positano’s prices.

Last but not least the Delizia al Limone, one of the typical desserts of this area, was very good. A good balance between the cream and the sponge cake.

Best restaurants in Positano Italy without a view

There are other very good restaurants in Positano but that they don’t have a view. Here you can find the list of the restaurants in Positano we have selected for you.

  • La Taverna del Leone
  • Il Saraceno
  • Da Vincenzo

Da Vincenzo

It’s a very good restaurant. The panzerotti they have are very good because they are crunchy. The ravioli with scamorza, pomodori and melanzane were very appraciated in our table. The shrimp tempura was very good. The tempura was light but crunchy and they give you big shrimps.

The best dessert in this restaurant we have tasted is cheesecake with berries.

This restaurant offers a very good value for the price. They have very good food, the restaurant is nice and is located in Positano. You don’t need any transportation to get here if you stay in Positano.

Da Vincenzo, you don’t have the view but you can see an amazing view soon after you are out of the restaurant.

Il Saraceno

It’s a good restaurant, especially for the pizza. The pizza is very good for a good price in Positano. It’s a place where you can go with your family and a place where you can eat good Italian pizza.

The pizza is excellent and it has a good quantity of toppings in the middle and the crost wasn’t too big. For example one of our pizzas had good tomatoes, bufala and mozzarella. The crost was also cooked perfectly.

The location isn’t special because there is no view it is an easy place for a pizza. It’s a place where you can go with your children. About the service, the waiters are sometimes pushy but also friendly.

La Taverna del Leone

It’s not in the center of Positano but you don’t have a problem getting to the restaurant because they have a shuttle service. The restaurant is along the main road and you don’t have any view.

For the amount of food and the quality, the price is reasonable. They have scallops with bacon that are very good. We also liked the cheesecake but the best dessert was the Croccante con Torroncino: very delicious!

We appreciate the service because it wasn’t super professional but they were very reasonable to adapt the tasting menu to our needs. In fact in this restaurant, you can choose a tasting menu of 5 dishes.

6 very Amazing Italian Amalfi Coast Towns 80

6 very amazing Italian Amalfi Coast Towns – The Amalfi Coast is famous worldwide, and that’s why we want to know more about the Amalfi Coast Towns that make this coast so special. We want to understand their main characteristics and their main attractions.

Let’s see the main cities of the Amalfi Coast, their characteristics and when you can go.

Italian Amalfi Coast Towns

Sorrento

Sorrento has a big city center with many shops of any kind. It’s more like a city than a town and despite it’s a perfect place for shopping and where to spend the evening, this can make you lose the Amalfi Coast atmosphere.

Anyway, it has a very nice balcony on the sea where you can have your coffee or drink with a beautiful view. Then from Sorrento, you can see something you can’t see from Positano or Amalfi: the volcano Vesuvius.

In the following video, you can see this beautiful view from this balcony at sunset time. Watch the video and subscribe to our YouTube Channel if you aren’t already subscribed! Subscribe here!

In the summertime, I would prefer to stay in a more Amalfitan style town than in Sorrento. In low season, however, it’s the best place to be in.

If you are In Sorrento in summer for many reasons you can go to Marina Grande for a day on the beach. As I’ve already said it’s not the best beach on the Amalfi Coast but it’s cute.

In Marina Grande, there are many restaurants. Dinner in one of those restaurants, especially those in the see it’s a beautiful experience. You can enjoy the sunset on the sea.

We can now move to the next Amalfi Coast Town: Positano. So let’s take the boat for Positano.

The following video is in Italian but you can enable the subtitles in your language.

Positano

We’re now arriving at one of the best village towns on the Amalfi Coast: Positano. Many people are enchanted by its beauty.

At the end of everything you find something very precious in this area: the beach! This makes Positano the town to choose for those that love beaches.

Amalfi Italy is a very characteristic Italian Amalfi Coast Town. Like Positano, Amalfi is recognizable while you’re arriving by boat thanks to its buildings among the rocks and its unique cathedral.

Amalfi has a nice city center and it’s quite busy every month of the year. The 6 best things you can do are:

  1. to visit the square where there is a beautiful church with a long stairway
  2. relax on the beach
  3. to visit the Emerald Grotto by boat
  4. visit the other beaches in the area (for example the beach il Duoglio)
  5. visit the Amalfi Villas in Ravello. You can go to Ravello by bus.
  6. you can taste your delicious icecream or much better a lemon granita

The Amalfi Cathedral is the symbol of the city. It’s in Piazza del Duomo, and it’s built with medieval Roman Catholic style.

Amalfi has a nice beach, but it isn’t the only beach in the Amalfi area. There are also other beautiful hidden beaches you can easily get to by boat from Amalfi. Il Duoglio is one of these beaches. Watch the following so you can see the coast in the Amalfi area.

In Amalfi, you can take the boat and visit the Emerald Grotto. You can arrive at the Emerald Grotto also without the boat tour, anyway it’s a good way to admire the beautiful Amalfi Coast from the sea.

The Emerald Grotto is not very big in size, but the spectacle you’ll see it’s marvelous. The water into the grotto takes an intense green hue.

It’s a good choice to stay in Amalfi in the tourist season although it’s quite good also in the low season.

Ravello Italy

Ravello is visited especially for the 2 amazing villas that are here:

  • Villa Rufolo
  • Villa Cimbrione: In Villa Cimbrone there is the amazing terrace of infinity.

If you want to know more about this Italian Amalfi Coast town read the following post: Ravello Italy things to do.

Ravello Beach

Ravello is a town built on the side of a mountain. Consequently, you don’t have the beach in Ravello, but you have a beautiful view of the Amalfi Coast. If you want to relax on the beach, you can go to the beach or Amalfi or Castiglione Beach.

Vietri

Vietri is a town located at the end of the Amalfi Coast, near Salerno. It is a very characteristic town with a strong personality. Vietri Sul Mare is in fact the City of Ceramics. A walk through the streets of Vietri is definitely something to do on the Amalfi Coast.

When you walk around Positano you are immersed in Positanesi-style fashion, when you walk through the streets of Vietri Sul Mare instead you find yourself in a beautiful display of colors on ceramic. Ceramics are not only found in shops but Vietri is also an open-air exhibition of his art.

The ceramics cover portions of the walls, form the cornice of the staircase of the municipal villa and even the benches overlooking the sea are of many different colors.

If a lot of walking has made us hungry, we can satisfy our appetite with an excellent sandwich with the exquisite buffalo mozzarella that we find at the La Contadina shop. It is located not far from the municipal villa where we can go and enjoy it with a beautiful sea view!

When you think about Vietri, you think of its colorful potteries. You can’t go home without anything. Here you can buy very nice gifts for your family and friends.

Amalfi Coast Towns: vietri

I prefer to visit Vietri rather than to stay there. Anyway, Vietri like Amalfi isn’t strongly affected by seasonability.

As a result, maybe Positano is the best town to stay in especially in the summertime but not in the low season. Positano is the town most affected by the tourist seasons!

Precious Advises

For our own experience, we want to give you the following precious advice.

  • In August and the more busy seasons prefer the boat to the bus when you have to move. When there are many people, the bus times aren’t trustworthy and if the bus is full it doesn’t stop and it leaves you at the bus stop :(. The boat times are instead always right.
  • Do not pack too many things because Positano is full of stairs and it isn’t easy to arrive at your hotel with big and heavy bags. If you don’t want to renounce to some of your stuff use the porterage service. The porterage service brings your bags from the tourist port of Positano to your hotel. In this way, you’ll not have a heart attack 😉 if you’re not trained.
  • Avoid the 2 central weeks of August if you can. Too hot and too crowded.

There is also another beach you can easily reach on foot: Fornillo Beach.

Amalfi + Ravello

After your arrival, the best thing to do in Positano is to walk in the Positano city center to take the first pictures and discover this amazing town.

Where are we going after it? In the famous Amalfi and Ravello.

In order to get from Positano to Amalfi faster, we chose to take the boat. This is also a more enjoyable way to travel and a good opportunity to see the Amalfitan Coast from the sea.

You can buy your ticket at the ticket desk very close to where the boat arrives next to the Marina Grande beach. Usually, you don’t need to reserve your seat on the boats because they are big and carry many people.

This is a big advantage because in this way you can take the boat at the time you’re ready to go without planning before.

You can see the timetable also online for example on the Travelmar website.

After we arrive in Amalfi, we can see the city center. Amalfi isn’t huge, so you don’t need a lot of time to visit it.

We can now take the bus and go to Ravello.

How can I get to Villa Rufolo from Amalfi? In Amalfi, you can take the bus for Ravello (Piazza Flavio Gioia, 1 Amalfi). The bus line is the number 5110 to get to Ravello.

Here’s what to see in Sorrento, the list of our 7 top attractions:

  • Villa Comunale Sorrento
  • The baths of Queen Giovanna
  • Marina Grande
  • The center of Sorrento with all the beautiful shops
  • The beaches of Sorrento
  • Marina Piccola
  • The sunset

Villa Comunale Sorrento

The first thing we can do once we arrive in Sorrento is to go to the Villa Comunale to enjoy a beautiful view of the Amalfi Coast, Vesuvius and the baths of Sorrento. The Villa Comunale is definitely one of our favorite places in Sorrento.

The Villa Comunale are public gardens with a beautiful balcony on the sea. It is located near the center, and for this reason, it is a meeting point where you can have an aperitif or enjoy this unique view.

The Villa Comunale of Sorrento is the best place where you can enjoy the sunset and see Sorrento’s beach from above.

Bagni Regina Giovanna

The baths of Queen Giovanna is a very special place where you can enjoy the sea. They are easily accessible by bus. I do not recommend you to get there on foot because although they are not very far from Sorrento, it is a long walk to do on foot and the road in some places does not have a pedestrian area.

If you go in August you should arrive very early because it is not very big and it gets easily crowded.

The beautiful Sunset

Watching the sunset maybe during a good dinner is really impressive in Sorrento. The good idea is to go to one of the restaurants on the Marina Grande to observe it. Watch the following video to admire the sunset over the sea.

Another good idea is to have dinner in one of Sorrento’s magnificent restaurants with a panoramic terrace.

One of these restaurants is the Vittoria Terrace restaurant that is on the top of the Continental hotel.

There is nothing better than going up to the terrace before the sun goes down for an aperitif and watching the change on the horizon. Moreover, in front of us, we have the Vesuvius that characterizes the Sorrento view.

In fact, the volcano Vesuvius is clearly visible from Sorrento but not from other Amalfi Coast towns such as Positano and Amalfi.

Sorento Italy beaches

The main 3 beaches in Sorrento are the following:

  • The Sorento public beach and the beach establishments
  • Marina Grande Sorrento
  • The baths of Queen Giovanna

The Sorento public beach and the beach establishments

The Sorento public beach is close to the center and Marina Piccola. This beach is quite small but many people can come here thanks to the beach establishments that are next to the beach.

Marina Piccola Sorrento

If you are in Sorrento I think you’d like to visit other Amalfi Coast towns. From Sorrento, you can easily get to Capri and Positano by boat.

You can take a boat for Capri or Positano in Marina Piccola that is on the opposite side of Marina Grande.

From Marina Piccola you can see more than the boats and the seagulls: you can also see the Grand Hotel Excelsior Vittoria. This hotel is part of the Sorrento skyline and you can easily notice it because it’s built on the rock and it’s quite colorful. It certainly doesn’t go unnoticed.

Watch the following video so you’ll understand better what I mean.

You are now ready for a new adventure. Let’s go to Positano by boat. While sailing we have the pleasure of enjoying the most hidden beauties of the Amalfi Coast.

After enjoying the beautiful view at the Villa Comunale and having the aperitif it’s now the time of having dinner. For our first dinner, we chose a very cute area of Sorento: Marina Grande.
