TOP 10 Amazing Things to do in Capri Amalfi Coast Italy scaled

Things to do in Capri Amalfi Coast Italy – Capri what to see? – Capri is an island, or rather, it is a real jewel very close to the Amalfi coast. In fact from Capri, you can see the Amalfi Coast very well and from some places on the Amalfi Coast, you can see well not only Capri but also its mythical Faraglioni.

Boats depart every day from the major towns of the Amalfi Coast to connect the mainland to this beautiful island. At this point, a spontaneous question arises: once you arrive in Capri what to see? There are many attractions on the island: the famous Blue Grotto, Anacapri and Mount Solaro, without forgetting the imposing Faraglioni which are a bit the symbol of the island.

Top 10 Things to do in Capri Amalfi Coast Italy

Let’s start making a list of the top 10 things to do in Capri:

  1. Blue Grotto Capri
  2. Faraglioni Capri
  3. The Piazzetta of Capri and the main street. The city of Capri attracts many tourists every year. The square is where the paparazzi are looking for well-known faces in the summer. Furthermore, Via Camerelle hosts a huge concert of high fashion shops. From the square of Capri, you can also admire the beautiful panorama: from the square you can see Marina Grande and Mount Solaro.
  4. Gardens of Augustus with a view of the suggestive Via Krupp.
  5. Via Tragara, Belvedere Tragara and Via Pizzolungo
  6. Anacapri and Monte Solaro with the Monte Solaro chairlift and the beautiful view we have when we reach the top of Monte Solaro
  7. We absolutely have to snorkel to see the fish
  8. Marina Grande and Cala Grande beach
  9. Green Grotto & White Grotto
  10. Marina Piccola

Blue Grotto Capri

Also known as the Blue Cathedral for its wonderful color, it offers the visitor a unique spectacle. The entrance is only one meter high and in fact, the authorized boatmen, who accompany you on the visit, make you lie down to be able to enter.

You can visit the Blue Grotto starting from Marina Grande thanks to the motorboat companies or arriving by land.

Things to do in Capri: Blue Grotto Capri

One of the best attractions on the list of what to see in Capri is definitely the Blue Grotto. You can access the Blue Grotto of Capri by land or by sea thanks to the organized tours that take you around the island and stop at the Blue Grotto.

At the entrance to the Blue Grotto, you will find boatmen who take you inside the cave with small rowing boats. Before entering, they make you stop at the boat used as a ticket office where you pay the entrance service plus the access fee to the Blue Grotto of Capri.

The entrance to the cave is very narrow and for this reason, you have to lie down to enter and even the boatman in an almost automatic gesture lies down to be able to access the Blue Grotto.

As soon as we enter we cannot immediately perceive the wonderful color of the Blue Grotto because, as the boatman explains, our eyes have to get used to it. After a few seconds, however, we can admire the splendid spectacle that awaits us.

The wall of the Blue Grotto is partially raised from the bottom and this allows the light to enter, pass under the rock, reflect on the white sand, and is a wonderful natural phenomenon coloring the cave with its characteristic color.

The Blue Grotto is 60 meters long and 20 meters deep. It was the swimming pool of the second emperor of Rome Tiberius who, lucky he came here to bathe. He passed through a tunnel carved into the rock that probably led him from his villa to the Blue Grotto. He certainly hadn’t picked a bad place!

Very characteristic when you enter the Blue Grotto is to hear the boatmen singing and whose voice is amplified in the cave. Adds a romantic touch to the cave visit.

If you want to visit the Blue Grotto, it is better if you do it early in the morning, when there are fewer queues. Then you have to consider that in the afternoon, let’s say after 2 pm, the light changes and the color is not as beautiful as in the morning. The Blue Grotto is also often closed due to sea and tidal conditions. For this reason, when you find it open and you have the time to visit it, you should take advantage of it!

The Faraglioni of Capri

The Faraglioni of Capri are visible from various panoramic points as well as clearly from the boat. Usually, in organized boat tours, you pass through the stack with the central opening. It is said that those who kiss under the stack will remain together forever.

One of the things to see in Capri is definitely the Gardens of Augustus. The gardens of Augustus are, as the name implies, beautiful gardens with colorful flowers but what makes this place special is the view you can enjoy from here.

Via Krupp Capri

Its history in Via Kupp dates back to the early 1900s and is closely linked to the figure of the German Friedrich Alfred Krupp, owner of the great German steel mills and passionate about marine biological research.

Things to do in Capri Amalfi Coast Italy

From the hotel where he was staying it was very difficult and uncomfortable for him to reach his yacht moored in Marina Piccola. It was then that he decided to find a solution. To easily reach the boat, he had this splendid panoramic road built into the rocky ridge dominated by the Gardens of Augustus. Via Krupp could thus connect the historic center of the island with Marina Piccola, which at the time could only be reached from Via Mulo.

Things to do in Capri: Via Krupp

Via Krupp is currently closed due to the danger of falling rocks.

It is however possible to admire the street from above, from the terrace of the Gardens of Augustus. This is certainly the most spectacular observation point of Via Krupp.

Via Tragara, Belvedere Tragara and Via Pizzolungo

One of the best walks you can take here in Capri is along the Via Tragara, which takes you to see the Belvedere Tragara.

VIDEO

Via Tragara, Belvedere Tragara and Via Pizzolungo

Video Text

Hi everybody, we are in Capri in Italy and at this moment, we are walking along Tragara street or in the Italian language Via Tragara.

Via Tragara is an elegant walk that takes you to one of the best views of Capri: the Belvedere Tragara.

The Belvedere Tragara is one of the busiest spots in Capri because it is a good vantage point to admire the famous Faraglioni of Capri, it is just a few minutes on foot from the Piazzetta of Capri, and the access is complimentary.

Belvedere Tragara is a romantic and relaxing place, but it is also a good starting point for those who love adventure.

Belvedere Tragara is a romantic and relaxing place because you can sit on the benches directly toward the sea and enjoy the view in peace.

We have said that the Belvedere Tragara is also a destination for those who love adventure. In fact, from here you can take different paths as you can see in the video.

For example, from Belvedere Tragara, you can go down the stairs or follow the downhill road to take the Via Pizzolungo.

Via Pizzolungo looks like a natural continuation of Via Tragara, but it is different.

If you want to walk it, I suggest you wear comfortable shoes suitable for walking as it is quite long and is more like a path than one of the streets in the center of Capri.

I want to specify that in Google Maps, the first stretch of Via Pizzolungo is marked as the continuation of Via Tragara instead of correctly reporting Via Pizzolungo but it is not very important because what interests us is where it leads us.

Easy to reach and close enough is the Belvedere del Pizzolungo: a spectacular balcony overlooking the Faraglioni and the bathing establishment “Da Luigi Ai Faraglioni”.

This is one of my favorite spots to see the Faraglioni of Capri.

The Via Pizzolungo continues, but we’ll see it in another adventure! Bye and see you in the next video!

Anacapri and Monte Solaro

Monte Solaro is a mountain located in Anacapri and it is beautiful to climb to the top of this mountain especially because it offers a magnificent view of the island.

You can get to the top of Monte Solaro thanks to the chairlift located in Anacapri, in Via Caposcuro, 10.

Getting to the Anacapri chairlift that takes you to the top of Monte Solaro is very simple. You can take the bus that brings you here to Anacapri from both Marina Grande and Capri, starting from the bus station which is very close to the square. The bus lines are well signposted and this also makes it easier for those who are on Capri for the first time.

Things to do in Capri Amalfi Coast Italy – Capri what to see: Anacapri and Monte Solaro

Getting on the Monte Solaro chairlift is a wonderful experience not only for the unique view you can see once you get to the top. In fact, even during the ride on the chairlift which lasts about a quarter of an hour you have the opportunity to admire the beautiful panorama of Capri. The Monte Solaro chairlift is an extremely relaxing route that allows you to see Capri from different perspectives.

As you go up you can admire an increasingly larger portion of this beautiful island. The ascent of the Monte Solaro chairlift begins gently until you reach the final point where the ascent becomes steeper.

Things to do in Capri: Chair lift to Monte Solaro

If you are in Capri, getting on the Monte Solaro chairlift is a must, one of those things that are definitely on the list of what to do in Capri. I know someone for whom the Monte Solaro chairlift was the best experience of their entire visit to Capri. Of course, this may not be the case for you but it is still very beautiful, especially because as you climb comfortably you are absolutely grateful that you don’t have to do all this climbing on foot! 😉

We finally arrived at the top of Monte Solaro and thanks to the chairlift and we are therefore ready to admire the magnificent panorama that the island of Capri offers us from above. We have already had the pleasure of enjoying the view from the top of Capri while we were on the chairlift but what we see now once we get to the top is something unique: you can see a wide view of the stacks and the coast.

Enjoy this video “Anacapri Monte Solaro Vista Faraglioni Capri” before continuing to read.

Things to do in Capri Amalfi Coast Italy

As we have already said, Monte Solaro offers a unique view of the stacks of Capri. Monte Solaro not only gives us, and certainly not cheap, a beautiful view of the stacks of Capri but also offers a beautiful view of the cliff of Anacapri and the color of the sea below us.

On Monte Solaro, it is also possible to relax on the deckchairs that are on the panoramic square as you can see in the image below …

… Or it is also possible to have something to drink or eat at the bar at the top.

After a bit of relaxation, however, you can only take another look at the beautiful panorama. The color of the sea seen from above, especially near the rocky beaches is a marvel. When we were at the top of Monte Solaro we didn’t want to leave and we looked at the magnificent panorama over and over again.

This is why I propose another video of the view from Monte Solaro in order to make you live an experience similar to ours in some way.

In the end, however, we had to go down because another exciting adventure awaited us.

Snorkeling in Capri

Capri is a beautiful island and offers magnificent views, but what about the sea and its inhabitants? To find it out you can do one of the best things to do in Capri: snorkeling. Snorkeling here on Capri is a great experience! Watch the following video.

Marina Grande and Cala Grande beach

Marina Grande is the landing point of the motor ships that take you here to Capri and is, therefore, a must. Is Marina Grande just a crossing point or is it also interesting to see?

Marina Grande is absolutely interesting, especially for the Cala Grande beach. This beach has a crystalline sea, is easily accessible, and has an area reserved for the free beach. Cala Grande beach is, therefore, an excellent idea if you want to visit the island but are also looking for a place to take a nice swim. On hot summer days, it is truly regenerating!

Another of the things to do in Capri that you can’t miss here in Marina Grande is the Salumeria Da Aldo. With a few euros, it makes a super great sandwich. Great idea for a cheap, good, and quick lunch. You can find this delicatessen easily because, especially in the high season, there is always a queue outside.

Green Grotto and White Grotto Capri

Green Grotto Capri

This magnificent cave takes its name from the color of its water, which, thanks to the play of light, takes on its green color. The bottom of the sea at the Green Grotto is made up of sand and rock.

Things to do in Capri: Green Grotto

White Grotto Capri

The White Grotto takes its name from the light color of its rock. It also has stalactites and stalagmites inside.

Things to do in Capri Amalfi Coast Italy: White Grotto

Marina Piccola

Marina Piccola is a much-loved place as it has a privileged position. In fact, from Marina Piccola, it is possible to see the Faraglioni of Capri very well. This feature makes the houses and villas built in this area extremely expensive.

Sorrento stands on a tuff plain overlooking the sea and offers one of the most intense views of the region between lush vegetation and the cobalt blue sea.

Man has always felt the charm of Sorrento: the ancients thought that this sea was the home of the Sirens and legend has it that the ancient Surrentum was born on a place dedicated to the worship of these creatures. In the eighteenth century, Sorrento became one of the favorite destinations of the Grand Tour.

So… What to see in Sorrento? Here are some good ideas of the case do and see in Sorrento. One of the main things to do in Sorrento is to get lost in the streets of the center. The center is quite large compared to other places on the Amalfi coast and is really full of shops. Among all these shops you will surely find the souvenir that suits you and beyond.

Another very pleasant thing to do in Sorrento is to have an aperitif at the Villa Comunale. Here you can enjoy not only the beautiful view but also the friendly company of seagulls. This is a good observation point to scan the horizon and see the departing and arriving motor ships.

The baths of Queen Giovanna

The baths of Queen Giovanna is a very special place where you can enjoy the sea. They are easily accessible by bus. I do not recommend you to get there on foot because although they are not very far from Sorrento, it is a long walk to do on foot and the road in some places does not have a pedestrian area.

If you go in August you should arrive very early because it is not very big and it gets easily crowded.

Another good idea is to have dinner in one of Sorrento’s magnificent restaurants with a panoramic terrace.

One of these restaurants is the Vittoria Terrace restaurant that is on the top of the Continental hotel.

There is nothing better than going up to the terrace before the sun goes down for an aperitif and watching the change on the horizon. Moreover, in front of us, we have the Vesuvius that characterizes the Sorrento view.

In fact, the volcano Vesuvius is clearly visible from Sorrento but not from other Amalfi Coast towns such as Positano and Amalfi.

  • The Sorento public beach and the beach establishments
  • Marina Grande Sorrento
  • The baths of Queen Giovanna

The Sorrento public beach and the beach establishments

The Sorento public beach is close to the center and Marina Piccola. This beach is quite small but many people can come here thanks to the beach establishments that are next to the beach.

Marina Piccola Sorrento

If you are in Sorrento I think you’d like to visit other Amalfi Coast towns. From Sorrento, you can easily get to Capri and Positano by boat.

You can take a boat to Capri or Positano in Marina Piccola which is on the opposite side of Marina Grande.

From Marina Piccola you can see more than the boats and the seagulls: you can also see the Grand Hotel Excelsior Vittoria. This hotel is part of the Sorrento skyline and you can easily notice it because it’s built on rock and it’s quite colorful. It certainly doesn’t go unnoticed.

Watch the following video so you’ll understand better what I mean.

You are now ready for a new adventure. Let’s go to Positano by boat. While sailing we have the pleasure of enjoying the most hidden beauties of the Amalfi Coast.

In particular, you pass in front of the most extreme point of the coast, the westernmost point: Punta Campanella. Punta Campanella is located right in front of the island of Capri and as you pass in front of it you have Punta Campanella on one side and the island of Capri on the other. Watching the following video we focus for now on this beautiful rocky point of the Sorrento Coast. Watch the video!

You can also admire Punta Campanella from Monte Solaro in Capri. On clear days the spectacle is incredible!

Marina Grande Sorento: dinner and sunset

After enjoying the beautiful view at the Villa Comunale and having the aperitif it’s now the time of having dinner. For our first dinner, we chose a very cute area of Sorento: Marina Grande.

Marina Grande Sorento is a very distinct and popular area of Sorrento, especially in summer. Here we find not only the beach but also excellent restaurants by the sea. Dining in one of these restaurants is a great idea, especially for watching the sunset.

We chose the Il Delfino restaurant for our dinner in Sorrento to have good food and an amazing view of the sunset on the sea. We have dinner and admire the sunset over the sea: very romantic! You can see the sunset from a table of this restaurant in the following short video.

Video Maiori Amalfi Coast in winter

Here we are in Maiori on a splendid winter day. In Maiori, the winter temperature is mild and in this period it is a fairly quiet location even though there are always people who love to walk along the beautiful promenade that runs along the beach.

In fact, here in Maiori, we have a beautiful wide and long beach with an equally long promenade that runs along the beach. This is an almost unique scenario here on the Amalfi Coast where the beaches are for the most part smaller. What amazes, fascinates and I like about the Amalfi Coast is this variety.

Each location has its beauty and particularity. You can choose your favorite location on the Amalfi Coast or you can simply daily choose the town of your destination considering what you would like to do that day. Enjoy the video!

Video description: Maiori Amalfi Coast in winter walking tour along the beach, what to do and sunset – The video shows you Maiori in winter and explains what you can do and see in Maiori. As you can see, Maiori beach is incredibly wide for being a beach on the Amalfi Coast.

Look at the sea.

Hi! Where are we? We are in Maiori on the Amalfi Coast!

What I like about Maiori is this long walk along this large beach. We don’t have many long and wide beaches here on the Amalfi Coast.

It is a winter day, the climate is mild, and the sun shines. Let’s enjoy this beautiful walk together.

Where is Maiori located? Leaving from Positano, Maiori is located after Amalfi. We have in fact Amalfi, Atrani, Minori and then Maiori.

What are other interesting things here in Maiori?

Here in Maiori, you can also hike doing the Path of the Lemons, which connects Maiori to Minori.

Just in Minori, we have, for those who love history and archeology, the remains of a Roman villa to visit, and for those who love the food, there is the famous pastry shop Pasticceria Sal De Riso.

Walking here in Maiori, it suddenly becomes evening, or at least in our video, and we can admire a magnificent sunset.

We’re at the end of this video, so I greet you. Bye and see you in the next video!

Positano Italy in winter

Positano is a magnificent location both in summer and in winter. Watch the following video: it shows you Positano in winter!

Text of the video:

Hi everybody, we are in Positano in winter. Positano is a magnificent location both in summer and in winter.

Clearly in winter, it presents itself in a completely different way than in summer.

For example, we remember well what the beach of Positano is like in summer.

In the summer we were worried if we would find a place on the beach and if there were umbrellas still available. Surely this problem does not exist now!

Our umbrella was right over there!

In Positano, many restaurants are closed in winter, but you have no problem finding the place you like best for lunch. Both for a lunch at the restaurant and for a quick lunch and why not even with a sea view.

Wow, what waves! Right there where in summer we wait for boats to Amalfi, Sorrento or Capri. Clearly, boats do not leave here in winter.

What to visit in Positano in winter? An excellent idea is to visit the very interesting MAR Roman Archaeological Museum, where you can also see part of the remains of an extraordinary Roman Villa. The museum ticket office is located near the church near the beach.

Walking on the beach is also very enjoyable, especially when there is a beautiful sunset.

Let’s now move to via Cristoforo Colombo to admire the beach of Positano and the view from above.

We wait for it to get darker and the lights of the houses to be turned on. I like admiring Positano in the evening.

Amalfi in winter

Amalfi is known all over the world for its beauty and particularity. What are the most characteristic areas of Amalfi? We certainly have the main square where we see the Cathedral of Amalfi and the port among the many. These 2 places have also been the set of numerous international films.

Amalfi is an excellent destination for spring-summer when we can enjoy the beaches of Amalfi, the beautiful sea and when we can go shopping as all the shops are open. But what about Amalfi in winter?

Amalfi is an excellent destination to go to even in winter: a walk through the streets of the center, a lunch in one of the excellent restaurants, a stop in the square to admire the Cathedral of Amalfi, and for super delicious ice cream even in winter thanks at the mild temperature of Amalfi.

One thing not to be missed on the Amalfi Coast in winter is the sunset. In fact, both in winter and in summer we have more opportunities to admire magnificent sunsets. In this video, we are mainly located near the tourist port of Amalfi. On one side is the illuminated Amalfi seafront and on the other a magnificent sunset.

Emerald Grotto

Amalfi is one of the symbols of all the Amalfi Coast. In Amalfi, you can visit the city center the unique church, and the Emerald Grotto that is not far from Amalfi. You can get to the Emerald Grotto by boat from the Amalfi port, by bus, or by car.

The best part of the day to visit the Emerald Grotto is the early afternoon.

Things to do in Capri in winter

Capri is a very famous island for more than a reason: for its sea, for the Faraglioni that are amazing Rocks in Water, for the Blue Grotto o the fancy shops and much more. What are the things to do in Capri in winter?

In Summertime I like to do the boat tour around the Island, snorkel, and also relax on the Marina Grande beach before exploring the island but winter is the perfect occasion to do those things I don’t have time to include in my Capri program for a day trip in the hot season.

For example, we can spend more time in Anacapri. You can include the beautiful Villa San Michele, walk in the Anacapri streets and go up the Monte Solaro with the chair lift.

Because the heat is not strong we can also think to get to Anacapri climbing the Phoenician staircase if it is accessible.

When you arrive at Capri by boat is better to go first to Anacapri because all of these attractions close in the early afternoon. When we have finished we can go to Capri to walk from the Piazzetta to the Augustus gardens to see the Faraglioni and Via Krupp.

Then from the Augustus Gardens to the Tragara viewpoint.

If you arrive in the early morning and the sea is calm, you can also dedicate a couple of hours to the island boat tour. In this way, you can pass through the amazing Faraglioni.

If you do this option probably you’ll have less time for the Capri center, but seeing the Faraglioni or Rocks in water from the sea you can cancel the Tragara Viewpoint.

Summarizing the following are the 2 options for Capri in winter

Capri in winter Option1

  • Anacapri climbing the Phoenician staircase if it is accessible. Walking tour.
  • Villa San Michele
  • Chairlift to Mount Solaro
  • Piazzetta Capri
  • Walking tour to Augustus Gardens to see the Faraglioni and The Krupp Street
  • Walking tour to Tragara View Point to see the Faraglioni.

Capri in winter Option 2

  • Anacapri by bus
  • Villa San Michele
  • Chairlift to Mount Solaro
  • Boat tour around the Capri island
  • Piazzetta Capri
  • Walking tour to Augustus Gardens to see the Faraglioni and The Krupp Street if you have enough time

Furore Fjord Amalfi Coast in winter

The following video is about a winter day at the Furore Fjord. It was a cloudy day, but we liked this place a lot. One of my friends remembering that day said: “This was a cool little spot … it’s not that big but just amazing in the structure, water, and scenery to soak in”. Enjoy the video!

Furore Fjord Amalfi Coast Description

The Fiordo di Furore is internationally famous as it is one of the most particular and characteristic realities of the Amalfi Coast.

Regardless of the suggestions aroused by the ancient, tiny building settlement, the valley has one of the most important naturalistic riches of the entire peninsula.

You can get to the Fiordo di Furore from the state road, thanks to the steps that bring you directly on the small beach or from the Punta Tavola: the rocky spur above. The steps to reach the beach are not many and absolutely nothing compared to the steps necessary to reach the Duoglio beach.

However, the staircase has a total of about 700 steps. The environment surrounding the long staircase is characterized by the so-called vegetational inversion for which the valley floor is occupied by essences which, in general, are characteristic of higher altitudes.

Marina di Praia beach Amalfi Coast Italy – Marina di Praia beach: very characteristic as it is set between 2 fjords. The beach of Marina di Praia is not the best known but it is really very characteristic.

How to get to Marina di Praia beach?

You can get to Marina di Praia by bus or by car. In fact, there are parking spaces available here even if spaces are clearly limited. The cost of parking varies from year to year. In fact, for example, in 2020 all the places available except for the places reserved for hotels were paid. Instead, a good amount of free parking spaces were available in 2021.

An alternative to using a car is the bus. In fact, the Mariana di Praia bus stop is on the Positano – Amalfi line.

Text of the video:

Hello, we have just arrived in Praiano and more precisely in Marina di Praia. This beach is an extraordinary place, and during this video, we will get to know it better. You can get to Marina di Praia by bus or by car. Parking spaces are available here, even if they are limited. We are observing this magnificent beach from above, from the road where we find the bus stop. Below we see the beach set between 2 majestic rock walls.

Here we also find some hotels and restaurants. We go down to access the beach. The beach is very characteristic, and the sea is fantastic. The only negative note is that precisely because of the two side rock walls that make this beach so unique, the sun illuminates the beach only in the central hours of the day. However, we can go beyond this beach by following the path that runs along the coast to find other options to relax and swim. Let’s explore. To conclude, you cannot miss an excellent lunch on the beach.

Marina di Praia beach in winter

In this video, we see the beach of Marina di Praia in winter. Marina di Praia beach is set between 2 high rocky walls and is a truly unique place, one of my favorite spots on the Amalfi Coast. Very popular in summer during the day for the sea and the evening for romantic dinners on the beach.

In winter it is presented in its most natural state: without umbrellas, without dining tables, and without boats docked right in front of it. The beach of Marina di Praia in winter really allows you to fully savor the beauty of this place. Enjoy the video!

Positano Italy: 10 unforgettable Things to do in Positano & Positano beach

positano italy 1

Positano Italy – Things to do in Positano – Positano beach. As already written in the post “Amalfi Coast Towns” Positano is one of the best towns on the Amalfi Coast. Its beauty enchants many people.

Positano Italy

As you can see below, Positano is developed on different levels, and starting from the top going down to the pedestrian center you have to follow a road on the coast. On this road, you can find many restaurants with a wide view of the coast and the sea. It’s unique!

You’ll see many shops in the pedestrian area where you can find many clothes in a perfect Positano style.

At the end of your way, you find something very precious in this area: the beach! This makes Positano the town to choose for those that love beaches.

As a result, maybe Positano is the best town to stay in especially in the summertime but not in the low season. Positano is the town most affected by the tourist seasons!

Precious Advises

For our own experience, we want to give you the following precious advice.

  • In August and the more busy seasons prefer the boat to the bus when you have to move. When there are many people, the bus times aren’t trustworthy and if the bus is full it doesn’t stop and it leaves you at the bus stop :(. The boat times are instead always right.
  • Do not pack too many things because Positano is full of stairs and it isn’t easy to arrive at your hotel with big and heavy bags. If you don’t want to renounce to some of your stuff use the porterage service. The porterage service brings your bags from the tourist port of Positano to your hotel. In this way, you’ll not have a heart attack 😉 if you’re not trained.
  • Avoid the 2 central weeks of August if you can. Too hot and too crowded.

You can see Positano beach in many postcards and many beautiful pictures around the web. The truth is that Positano beach is lovely and unique for its scenario.

There is also another beach you can easily reach on foot: Fornillo Beach.

Fornillo Beach is not far from the Grande beach of Positano. You can easily get to Fornillo beach on foot, thanks to the paved path that takes you directly from Spiaggia Grande to Fornillo beach.

This trail is also very nice to walk as it counts the sea and is scenic. The Fornillo beach remains more private and quiet than the Spiaggia Grande in Positano, especially during the high tourist season.

The Path of the Gods Positano

One of the best things to do in Positano is the Path of the Gods Positano. Positano and the Amalfi Coast are in fact also famous for the trails in the mountains just behind the coast. The peculiarity of these trails is that they are extremely scenic.

Positano Italy – unforgettable Things to do in Positano – The Path of the Gods Positano

The Path of the Gods Positano is a very panoramic hiking path. If you start your hiking tour in Nocelle, don’t stop at the beginning of the path because, after 1 hour of walking, you can see Positano, and the view is much better than at the beginning of the path.

A good idea is to go in the morning and then have lunch at the restaurant la Tagliata or have a light lunch at the ” Inverno al Chiosco del Sentiero degli Dei” that is at the beginning of the Path of the Gods. Go to the following page: “Top 3 Best restaurants in Positano Italy with a view“.

How to reach the Path of the Gods?

You have 3 options to reach the Path of the Gods:

  1. By bus from Positano
  2. By car
  3. On foot thanks to the stairs that lead you from Arenzio near the beginning of the Path of the Gods. This option is the most tiring and certainly not for everyone.

Path of the Gods by bus from Positano

To reach the Path of the Gods by bus you can go to the Chiesa Nuova stop in Positano and take the bus to Nocelle. The Nocelle bus stop is very convenient because it is located a few steps from the road that leads you directly to the Path of the Gods.

Path of the Gods by car from Positano

To reach the Path of the Gods by car you have to head towards Nocelle where you will find a small parking lot which, however, fills up quickly at certain times of the year. I, therefore, suggest you arrive early. For convenience, I leave you the Google point that you can set on the navigator to reach the parking: https://goo.gl/maps/YNymZt2aQ5wnzQyR8.

From the parking lot for the Path of the Gods, you have to walk a short paved section between the houses. During this route, you will also see the sign indicating the stairs to Positano. In fact, from here you can also reach Positano on foot, more precisely Arenzio.

Continuing the path shortly after you will see on your right the Kiosk of the Path of the Gods, once you pass it you will begin your adventure on the Path of the Gods!

Path of the Gods on foot from Positano

From Positano, it is possible to reach the Path of the Gods also on foot thanks to the stairs which, however, do not directly connect the center of Positano to the Path but arrive at Arenzio. So in your journey, you have to take into consideration that from Positano you have to go to Arenzio or vice versa.

This option is the most tiring and certainly not for everyone. In order not to go up all the stairs it might be a good idea to go to the Path of the Gods by bus and then walk back.

Why do the Path of the Gods?

The Path of the Gods is an excellent alternative to the beauties of the coast of the sea. In fact, you can admire these beautiful landscapes from a different point of view.
